"My experience with one of the top rated and more expensive of the “on-line/over-the-counter” hearing aids was less than successful. I worked with a very nice audiologist on Zoom for the initial set up and a few adjustments but I was always adjusting the volume to try to find a more natural sound. Often, I couldn't hear the person talking right next to me but I could hear conversations in the next room or noise from far away!  I tried them for over a year but finally reached a point of total frustration.
